Maybe that was my problem. Instead of relying on earthly ideas, I needed to trust that the universe would supply me with just the right topic at exactly the right time. Did it? As a master manipulator of suspense, I won’t give you the answer, just yet.

With a half hour to blog time, I leisurely sipped my coffee and read another chapter in Grisham’s gripping new book, Confession. Would Robbie save the nice kid on death row? I was not to find out today, as a voice sounded in my head, forcing me to turn off my kindle. The disembodied chatter was my own. And it was quite shrewish in nature. “Enough stalling, Tracey,” it shrieked. “Get to work.” Shouting at myself in third person nearly always does the trick.

Since I was still without topic, I’d have to resort to scanning the internet for something viable. But before I walked the long green mile to my shiny laptop, which was in reality 10 paces hence, whammo—inspiration chimed, quite literally. My iphone alerted me there was a message from my newest facebook buddy.

Should I retrieve it and risk being plunged into an internet vortex that could wipe-out hours of my existence? Yes, I deemed it was worth the calculated risk. The lure of facebook was too strong, my friends.

I boldly answered the siren’s call and to my utter surprise and delight, I found my topic, wedged between news of the arrival of a new mattress, and thoughts on a daytime couple my friend and I are both shamelessly addicted to. Who could’ve imagined that this casual diary of her day would contain the seeds of paranormal importance. It could very well be that I’m the only one who thinks so. But since I am the creator of this blog, I uphold the fantasy that everyone’s world revolves around it.

Without going into too much detail, to protect the innocent, Jane Dot Com, as I’ll now call her, mentioned overwhelming anxieties her husband has been feeling, with regard to meeting new people. Turns out he’s been gripped with these fears for as long as she’s known him, and its only gotten worse over time. What we’re discussing here is phobia, but only of a certain kind—the paranormal kind.

As I’m neither a hypnotherapist or Dr. Phil, I have absolutely no idea whether Jane Dot Com’s husband fits into the paranormal category or not. But there certainly is the possibility that such a strong fear as his just may have its roots in a past-life.

From what I’ve gleaned from the book, Many Lives, Many Masters, by Brian L Weiss, MD, past life regression therapy has uncovered startling results that would confirm this theory. Just so you know, Dr. Weiss, is no quack. He is, in fact, a trained psychiatrist and Yale graduate, and is chairman Emeritus of the Department of Psychiatry at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami. But more impressive than that, he’s appeared on Oprah. Need I say more?

Since 1980, Dr. Weiss has regressed more than 4,000 patients. At first not a believer in reincarnation, his mind changed as he witnessed curative effects on serious phobias, once they were recalled and acknowledged by the patient.

“He was lying there on his back, kicking and clawing at the covers like he was trying to kick his way out of a coffin,” remembers the boy’s father ~ Zoe Brennan, www.dailymail.co.uk

A bazaar story, well documented, began with a two-year-old boy’s death curdling screams–five nights a week—that terrified his parents. Little James Leininger recalled poignant details of his plane catching fire and crashing into the ocean during World War II. The toddler used words like, drop tank, Corsair (a fighter plane) and Natoma (the aircraft carrier that launched his plane). Against his own beliefs, James’ father researched the name his son provided, Jack Larsen, and was stunned to find not only that he existed, but that Larsen’s best friend, James—that’s right, James–was killed on a plane (a Corsair) that was shot at, caught fire and crashed into the ocean, according to an actual eyewitness. For more details, read Bruce and Andrea Leininger’s Soul Survivor.

Whether you have an irrational fear of snakes like Jane Dot Com and Indiana Jones (he’s real to me), or have a love/fear relationship with sharks, like my daughter and the throngs of rabid fans addicted to Shark Week on Discovery Channel, there just may be more to your phobia than are dreamt of in your philosophy, to quote Shakespeare.

Aside from finding a reputable hypnotherapist, what exactly can you do about these strange phobias, that may well be rooted in a celebrated past life. After all, weren’t we all Caesar or Cleopatra in the past, as opposed to a lowly slave fanning the royals with palm fronds. The only professional advice I can offer, that won’t land me in litigation, is to urge you to send your past-life stories to me for my weekly post. Because, as I stated clearly before, your life (and past life) revolves around my blog!

Once again, I had no earthly clue what I was going to write about today.
